Piedmont Seniors Are All-Stars

Piedmont Academy seniors Anna Jones and Carla Martin returned to the softball diamond Saturday.

Jones and Martin were both selected to compete in the GISA All-Star doubleheader hosted by Mercer University in Macon. Jones played center field for the Class AA All-Stars while Martin pitched the second game of the doubleheader.

Piedmont softball coach Danny Camp and assistant Dan Funt helped coach Martin and Jones’ team. “It’s always fun to get to coach the players who normally coach against,” Camp said. “We were glad to see our two seniors selected to play. They have meant a great deal to our program.”

The Piedmont varsity softball banquet has been scheduled for Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. Varsity softball and cross country athletes will be recognized.

A middle school sports banquet, recognizing softball, football, cheerleading and cross country, will be Nov. 6 at 2:15 p.m.
