Tink Dover Wins Contest

Tink Dover lives in Rex, but he hunts in Jasper County. He also plays The Monticello News football contest. And, with season only about half over, Mr. Dover has won the football contest for the second time.

For his efforts this week, he collected a prize worth $25 from Jeremy Knight at Town ‘N Country General Store on Hwy. 212 in Monticello, sponsor of the week. Mr. Dover correctly guessed the winner in 14 of the 15 games listed last week. He was the only player with 14 right.

Mr. Dover has been playing the contest for about 10 years, and never won before this year.

Nineteen others did well enough to make the Grand Prize Honor Roll—a good number after last week’s difficult contest.

Players who correctly guessed the winners in 13 of the 15 games listed included Alex Pace, Ethel Jones, David Leach, Mary Tumlin, Matt Tumlin, Jess Smith, Sonja Tumlin, Barbara Goins, and Jenifer Kirksey. (And no, Mr. and Mrs. Tumlin did not miss the same games or guess anywhere near the same tie-breaker.)

Those players will have their names added to the list of the Grand Prize Honor Roll, making them eligible for a premium four-ticket package to the Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta. Eleven others got 12 right to also qualify for the grand prize.

This week, a new winner may be named, or there could be another repeat winner. Whoever it is will pick up a prize worth $25 from Dairy Queen. But, you must play to win. For complete contest rules and entry form see page 12. Entries should be submitted to The Monicello News office no later than 5 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 1. It costs nothing to play.
