GSP Conducts Road Blocks

The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) conducted rolling road blocks this past weekend in the county. Referred to as “Safety Check Points” by the GSP, were conducted at various locations and resulted in the following arrests:

•Joseph Rodgers, 67, Newborn—failure to maintain lane, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and open container.

•Gayle Marie Pieper, 54, Conyers‑driving on a suspended or revoked license.

•Matthew Lee Reeves, 19, McDonough—possession of marijuana less than one ounce.

•Tommy Davis Stone, 54, Shady Dale—failure to maintain lane and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Also, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) reported the following criminal incidents during the last week. Anyone with information concerning these or any other criminal activity are encouraged to call the JCSO’s anonymous tips line at 706-468-JCSO:

•On October 26 a resident on Decatur Street in Alcovy Shores reported the theft of a bicycle.

•On October 23 a resident of Loganville reported the theft of two Honda motorcycles from a U-Haul trailer left parked on the intersection of Hwy 212 East and Perimeter Road.

•On October 22 a student at Jasper County High School reported the theft of I Phone.

In addition, during the period of October 22-29 the JCSO reported the following arrests:

•Cameron Stuart Heeps, 19, Covington—Jasper County Probate Court and City of Monticello Bench Warrants.

•Demarceo Exavaier Stodgill, 18, Jackson—Jasper County Probate Court Bench Warrant.

•Jerrell Fears, 31. Covington—probation violation.

•Crystal Dawn Huges, 34, Covington—disorderly conduct.

•Kelly Piper Walker, 38, Monticello—disorderly conduct.

•Michael Austin Simmons, 19, Macon—possession of marijuana less than one ounce.

•Jason Dewayne Myers, 42, Covington—hold for warrant in Newton County Sheriff’s Office.

During this same time period deputies with the JCSO responded to 159 calls for service including 43 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 12 alarm, 11 accident 10 subject needs officer, nine mechanical breakdown, seven pick up prisoner/subject, and six each escort or convoy and theft by taking.

Also, four each assist motorist, livestock on road and vandalism of property, three each domestic, speeding auto and juvenile complaint, two each intoxicated driver, welfare check, four wheeler, discharge of firearms, trouble unknown, music/noise complaint, threatening/harassing calls, road hazard, argument and attempt to serve warrant,.

Also, one each fight, dog disturbance, prowler report, burglary, subject with firearms, courtesy ride, fire alarm, fire/structure, mental person, be on the look out, child abuse/molestation, extra patrol, entering auto, private property, checking location, abandoned vehicle and 911 hang up.

During the same period as mentioned above the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the arrest of Taquine Artez Patterson, 24, of Monticello, and charged him with driving while his license was suspended or revoked, and with a stop sign violation.

Also during this same period, officers with the MPD responded to 59 calls for service including 21 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, six each subject needs officer and escort or convoy, five accident, two each assist motorist, argument and abandoned vehicle, one each alarm, burglary, domestic, subject with firearms, fire alarm, mental person, shortness of breath, unconscious, miscellaneous ems, child abuse/molestation, crowd disbursement, welfare check, private property, threatening/harassing calls and vandalism of property.
