Another Player Records Second Win of Season

After a tough contest two weeks ago, it seemed interest waned a little last week with just over 100 players competing in the weekly Monticello News football contest.
And, one of those was Ethel Jones, who now lives in neighboring Newton County, but still manages to get her contest entry in every week on time. She was one of six contest players who correctly guessed the winner in 12 of the 15 games listed last week. Her tie-breaker guess of 57 was the highest guess, which is how she won.
Bleckley County beat Monticello, 54-13, for a total of 67 points in the designated tie-breaker game.
Ms. Jones picked up a $25 prize from Lynne Bulthouse at Dairy Queen, sponsor of the week. The other five players who had 12 right, and therefore made the honor roll, included Walker Jordan, J. Matt Tumlin, Mary Tumlin, Sonja Tumlin, and Erin Roper.

Mrs. Jones won previously this year, picking up a prize from Larry’s 4-Way. She is the second contest player to have two wins this year…with a month still to go. Last week’s winner, Tink Dover, was also a repeat, having won the second week this year.
Hopefully, everyone is ready to play again this week, as Piedmont Academy enters the state playoffs, and the Monticello Hurricanes complete their regular season traveling next door to Putnam County for what is always a big rivalry game. Maybe the Falcons can even get into the win column. And, there’s lots of college games, other pro games, and another high school contest. Get in on the fun.
There’s still time to win a $25 prize, and a chance at the grand prize honor roll of a premium four-ticket package to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl in Atlanta.
The player who correctly guesses the winner of the most games listed in this week’s contest, subject to the tie-breaker, will win a prize from Lewis & Malone Heating and Air.
Complete contest rules and entry form are on page 8. (You can also use a plain piece of paper, so everyone in the house can enter.)
