Contest Players Have Easy Week, Finally

It was bound to happen. There was finally an easy week in The Monticello News football contest. So easy, in fact, that some 44 players made the honor roll this week.
Not only that, but two players had a perfect score. Both Lawson Fulton and Don Kelly got all 15 right. And Mr. Fulton guessed 52 points would be scored in Lamar’s 58-15 shellacking of Metter. Mr. Kelly guessed 46 points, so Mr. Fulton’s higher guess made him the winner.
Mr. Fulton was unable to pick up his prize, and instead sent his brother, Ervin Fulton, also a regular contest player, to pick up the $25 prize from Jan Gaston, administrator of Primary Care Center and Jasper Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Gaston chose this week to be football contest sponsor, because she was hoping her War Eagles would beat the Ga. Bulldogs. That they did, or then again, did the Dawgs beat themselves? Or…whatever the case that game will be on highlight reels for a long time to come.
Five players missed only one game to get 14 right last week. They included Tammy Harvey, Kenny Harvey, Kaitlyn Harvey, and Sonya Tumlin all of whom missed on Atlanta’s loss to Tampa Bay, and Jenifer Kirksey, who missed on Pittsburgh’s loss to North Carolina.
There’s only two more weeks to get your name added to the Grand Prize Honor Roll, and/or win a $25 prize for being a weekly winner. Whoever gets the most right this week, subject to the tie-breaker, will win a $25 prize from Venture Medical Center, sponsor of the week. Be sure to submit entrees by 5 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 22.
