James Edward Waits
James Edward Waits, 91, of Monticello, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville.
Mr. Waits was born in Adgateville to the late Roy C. Waits and Mabel Carey Waits. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Before retirement, he was a self-employed carpenter.
He was a member of the Adgateville Baptist Church. Mr. Waits was an avid gardener, fisherman, and lady’s man. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucile Mercer Waits; and brother and sisters, Ridley Waits, Joyce Conner and Margie Badger.
He is survived by his sister, Marian Lynch of Monticello; nieces and nephews, Judy and Lew Aiken of Lebanon, Tenn., Tommy and Linda Brooks of Newnan, David and Gail Brooks of Milledgeville, Kathy Lynch of Athens, and Jimmy and Sara Josey of Milledgeville; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Interment will be held in Hebron Cemetery in Monticello. Dr. Robert Whitmire will officiate.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Jordan Funeral Home.
