Accused Molester Is Held for ICE
A deputy with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) arrested Camillo Torrez Barranco, 32, of Monticello on Friday, Nov. 22 and charged him with child molestation for an incident which allegedly took place at a residence near Shady Dale on November 17.
Mr. Barranco was also charged with license violation and is being held at the county jail for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), since he had no documentation of citizenship.
Also, the JCSO reported the following two criminal incidents which were reported on November 23. Anyone with information concerning these or any other criminal activity are encouraged to call the JCSO at the anonymous tips line (706-468-JCSO).
A resident on Wyatt Road in North Jasper County reported the theft of approximately $200 in silver coins, a gold wedding band and a tool set.
A resident on Hwy 83 in South Jasper County reported the theft of an in-car radio with seven inch screen.
In addition, during the period of November 19-25 the JCSO reported the following arrests:
Wilburn Lee Knight, 39, Monticello—probation violation.
Aron Nathan Childress, 19, Alto—Jasper County Superior Court Bench Warrant.
Kristy Yvette White, 31, Monticello—deposit account fraud.
Christian Scott Gilreath, 22, Monticello—fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, interference with government property, no insurance, reckless driving, obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers, failure to stop at a stop sign and no helmet.
During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 101 calls for service including 29 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, nine alarm, six subject needs officer, five each accident and identity fraud/theft, four each speeding auto and pick up prisoner/subject, three each dog disturbance, assist motorist, mechanical breakdown and sex offender check, two each subject with firearms, livestock on road, escort or convoy, theft by taking, juvenile complaint, music/noise complaint, road hazard, and argument, one each domestic, courtesy ride, fire structure, chase in progress, mental person, missing person, four wheeler, child custody case, discharge firearms, entering auto, vandalism of property, abandoned vehicle and fraud/theft by deceiving.
Also during this period the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:
Walter Mead Carter, 61, Monticello—disorderly conduct.
Steven Kyle Camp, 18, Shady Dale—driving while license suspended or revoked.
In addition, during this same period the MPD responded to 37 calls for service including 10 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, five escort or convoy, three alarm, two each subject needs officer, private property and music/noise complaint, one each burglary, domestic, speeding auto, intoxicated pedestrian, mechanical break down, fire alarm, theft by taking, assist invalid, juvenile complaint, property found, vandalism of property, road hazard and argument.
