Copper Is Stolen in Turtle Cove

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) responded to a call from a property owner of a house on Runner Road in Turtle Cove on December 26, who reported that all the copper electrical wiring and copper tubing for plumbing had been stolen, at an estimated cost of $4,500.

Two other criminal incidents reported by the JCSO during the past week are as follows:

•On December 30 a resident on Partridge Court in Turtle Cove reported the theft of a 50 gallon trash container.

•On December 22 a resident on Blue Heron Drive reported the theft of Hydrocodone and Oxycodone prescription drugs.

Also, during the period of December 23-30 the JCSO reported the following arrests:

•Jeffery Olice Lake, 30, Monticello—disorderly conduct and probation violation.

•Jonathan Linwood Norris, 18, Newborn—disorderly conduct.

•Ramiro Perez Lopez, 33, Shady Dale—driving while unlicensed or expired license, speeding and passing in a no-passing zone.

•William Emmett Kenmore, 54, Macon—following too close, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs less safe and drugs not kept in original container.

•Matthew James Robinson, 21, Monticello—probation violation.

In addition, during the period of December 18-30, deputies with the JCSO responded to 269 calls for service including 107 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 18 alarm, 14 subject needs officer, 11 accident, eight each mechanical breakdown, road hazard and attempt to serve warrant; seven each domestic, assist motorist and theft by taking.

Also, six pick up prisoner/subject; four each livestock on road, four wheeler, juvenile complaint, trouble unknown and sex offender check, three each escort or convoy, welfare check, discharge firearms, threatening/harassing calls and checking location.

Also, two each prowler report, hit and run, chase in progress, be on the look out, overdose, music/noise complaint, vandalism of property, persons refuse to leave and vgcsa; one each dog disturbance, burglary, speeding auto, fire, deliver emergency message, child custody case, private property, property found, trespassing, argument, abandoned vehicle, request for DNR and 911 hang up.

The Monticello Police Department (MPD) is investigating two armed robberies in December. On December 19, the cashier at A-1 Food Store on Forsyth Street had locked the door and was putting the chain on, when a black male, wearing black clothing and black bandana tazed him and took his wallet.

Then, on December 30, the owner of the trailer park at 982 Hillsboro Street, was jumped by two white males. His wallet was taken, along with a cashier’s check. Police are investigating both incidents.

The MPD did not report any arrests during the period of December 23-30, however, during the period of December 18-30, officers with the MPD responded to 70 calls for service including 16 escort or convoy, 15 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, five accident, four private property, two each alarm, assist motorist, speeding auto, shortness of breath and subject needs officer.

Also, one each burglary, domestic, armed robbery, hit and run, mechanical breakdown, fire, theft by taking, mental person, electrical wires down, child custody case, discharge firearms, threatening/harassing calls, checking location, road hazard, persons refuse to leave, attempt to serve warrant, seizure, sick, transport patient.
