Roma Faye Bowie Christie

Roma Faye Bowie Christie, 68, of Monticello, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at Jasper Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service for Mrs. Christie will be held this Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at New Rocky Creek Baptist Church. Dr. Randal Reese will officiate.

Mrs. Christie was born in Newnan, to the late Horace Leroy Bowie, Sr. and Mary Lizzie Brooks Bowie. She lived in Atlanta for a number of years before moving to Monticello in 1973.

She was a member of New Bethlehem Baptist Church and loved to garden. Before retirement, Mrs. Christie was a store clerk for Potts Grocery and Larry’s Four-Way Stop.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Byron Christie, Sr.; sisters, Martha Collins and Linda Barnett; and brothers, Norman Bowie and Pete Bowie.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Susan Jackson of Monticello; step-children, Chuck Christie of Loganville, and Carla Herrin of Powder Springs; grandchildren, Taylor Austin Jackson, Cristopher Adam Jackson, Kristen Amanda Jackson, Daniel Aaron Jackson, and Rachael Aleah Jackson; great-grandchild, Titus Aaron Jackson; and brother, Horace Leroy Bowie, Jr. of Cartersville.
