Horace Edward Roland

Horace Edward Roland, 80, of Monticello, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville.

Mr. Roland was born in Atlanta to the late Marion Cecil Roland and Minnie Mae Brumbelow Roland. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

He moved to Monticello over 20 years ago. He was a member of Monticello Baptist Church. Mr. Roland was a member of a Masonic Lodge and an avid hunter. Before retirement, he owned and operated Roland Appliance. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Margie Sauls Roland of Monticello; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Bonnie Roland of Lawrenceville; grandchildren, Isabella Roland and Sophia Roland; sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Roger Hall of Las Vegas, Nev.; step-children and spouses, Teddy and Cindy Sauls of Forsyth, Susan and Tim Evans of Monticello, and Scott and Teresa Sauls of Covington; step-grandchildren, T. J. Sauls, Keri Garland, Kristen Pierce, Clay Evans, Mallory Sauls, Madison Sauls, Caleb Sauls, and Cade Mitchell; and step-great-grandsons, Koby Garland and Noah Pierce.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Monticello Baptist Church. Interment will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the Warsaw Cemetery, 10030 Medlock Bridge Road, Johns Creek, GA 30097. Dr. Robert Whitmire will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Cindy Sauls, Trey Bryant, David Byers, Carol Atkinson, Clay Evans, Caleb Sauls, T. J. Sauls, Gene Spivey, Roy Flynn, and Johnny Morris.
