Mat ‘Canes Have Senior Night

The Monticello High School varsity Mat Canes hosted Senior Night last Wednesday while competing against Lamar and Central wrestling teams.

The squad defeated Lamar 75-3 and Central 40-27 last week. During the competition Monticello High School honored six seniors including Emery Cline, Justin Bradley, Montana Dozier, Tristan Harper, Danny Villanueva, and Dean Smith.

The team finished its regular season schedule Tuesday with wins over Jackson, 52-22, and Henry, 77-0. The victories bring the overall record to 30-11.

The team will participate in the Redskin Rumble this Saturday in Social Circle beginning at 9 a.m. The rumble is a warm up tournament for individuals prior to the region competition that begins February 1 in Bremen.

The varsity wrestling team is coached by Andy Rewis. The middle school squad is coached by Buddy Cain.
