Mat Cougars Continue To Do Well

The Piedmont Academy wrestling team continues to improve and has been earning several wins on the mat in recent matches.

In a home meet against Loganville Christian, John Milledge Academy and Unity Christian last Thursday, Ian Boyd was a perfect 3-0 while Nolan Cleary and Dylan Efird were 2-0.

Mills Smith won his lone match as did Malik Reid. Austin Taylor finished 1-1 for the Mat Cougars.

In a home meet Tuesday against Weber, Efird, Cleary, Smith and Tanner Coppock were all undefeated. Boyd earned two more wins as did Hunter Burson. Reid finished 1-1.

“We have wrestled well of late,” said coach Alvin Hawkes. “I am proud of how hard the guys have worked. We only have a couple of matches left until region. We are working hard in preparation for the region tournament on Jan. 31.”
