MS Cougars Win

The Piedmont Academy Middle School boys basketball team earned two wins in recent action while the Lady Cougars recorded one.

Against Macon Area last Thursday, the Middle School boys took a 36-26 road win as Sam Wright led the team with 10 points. Seven players scored points for Piedmont in the game for a balanced attack.

Also contributing were Owen Brady (9), Dylan Coe (4), Talon Anglin (4) and J.T. Webb (4), Jackson Waddleton (3) and Tate Marks (2).

Piedmont led 16-11 at halftime and 27-15 after the third quarter.

The Middle School boys also defeated Brentwood on the road Friday 31-19. Marks led the team with 10 points while Sam Wright added five. Webb and Connor Olson both scored three while Coe, Browning Benton and Anglin all added two.

The boys had a tougher go of it Saturday in a 50-16 road loss to Briarwood in Warrenton. Brady was the tops scorer with four points while Caleb Coffey and Wright scored three each. Anglin, Benton and Coe all scored two.

Piedmont’s Middle School girls defeated Briarwood 16-14 Saturday. Madison McCart led the team with six points followed by Lucy Tuggle with four and Mattie Johnston, O’Neil Sealy and Jordan Camp all with two.

The Lady Cougars just missed a win last Thursday falling 14-11 to Macon Area. Gracie Hunt scored four points and Anne Marie Hildrebrant scored three. Deacon Robinson finished with two points while Rylee Owens added two points on a pair of free throws.

Piedmont’s girls fell to Brentwood 21-9 Friday. Sealy was the team’s leading scorer with five points while Hunt and Camp both scored two.

The Middle School teams also traveled to face Lake Oconee Monday (Jan. 27). The Lady Cougars were led by Tuggle’s six points but fell 32-15. Sealy added four points.

The boys 45-31 to Lake Oconee Monday with Brady and Coe scoring seven points each. Coffey added five points while Wright finished with four.
