Harold Talmadge Cheek
Harold Talmadge Cheek, 89, of Monticello, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. Cheek was born in Talmo, GA to the late William Clarence Cheek and Myra Lee Cooper Cheek. He lived in Conyers before moving to Monticello 16 years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Monticello Baptist Church, the VFW in Conyers, and the American Legion Post 110. Mr. Cheek loved to garden, fish, and raise chickens. Before retirement, he was a master plumber for the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 72.
Along with his parents, Mr. Cheek was preceded in death by his daughter, Jane Victoria “Vicky” French; grandson, John W. Wilson; and sister, Missouri Evelyn Cheek.
Survivors include his wife, Eddie Mae Reynolds Cheek of Monticello; children and spouses, Leila White and Wayne Hunt of McDonough, Lance and Paula Cheek of Rex, Rosemary and Ricky Clark of Monticello, and Pamela Beck of Conyers; 13 grandchildren; 26 great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Jewelldean Camp of Buford; and step-children, Mavis Dunahoo of Cleveland, Becky Dixon of Baconton, Timothy Glover of Albany, and Wendell Glover of Palmetto.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Monticello Baptist Church. Interment will be held at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, in the Hillcrest Cemetery (also known as the Buford City Cemetery) in Buford. Dr. Robert Whitmire and Pastor Harold Clark will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Wendell Glover, Timothy Glover, Christopher Dunahoo, Ryan Glover, Harold Cheek, and Jeff Wood.
The family will receive friends Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, from 5 until 7 p.m., at Jordan Funeral Home.
