Bernard “Bernie” Newton Sealy, Jr.
Bernard “Bernie” Newton Sealy, Jr., 74, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon.
Mr. Sealy was born in Macon, to the late Bernard Newton Sealy, Sr. and Jacquelyn Shumate Sealy. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam Conflict. He moved from Macon to Monticello in 1970 and retired after over 30 years from Georgia Pacific Corporation.
Mr. Sealy was a member of the Monticello Baptist Church and the Jasper County Masonic Lodge #50F&AM. He loved to hunt and fish; but mostly, he enjoyed traveling to watch his sons and grandchildren playing their sporting events.
A sister, Betty Urick, and a brother, Ansley Sealy preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Gail Parks Sealy of Monticello; sons and daughter-in-law, Shane and Jennifer Sealy of Monticello, and Heath Sealy of Athens; and granddaughters, O’Neil Sealy and Fleming Sealy.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 27, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Monticello Baptist Church. Interment will be in West View Cemetery. Dr. Robert Whitmire will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Chase Parks, Thurman Willis, Tony Tanner, Don Wilson, Steve Hobby, and Richard Thomas.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Monticello Baptist Church, 334 W. Greene Street, Monticello, GA 31064.
The family will receive friends from Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home.
