Schools, County Offices Remain Closed

Jasper County schools and county government offices closed midday Tuesday in anticipation of the incoming winter weather. They remained closed Wednesday and Thursday, as continued low temperatures prevented much of the ice from melting. Activities were expected to resume on Friday, Jan. 31.

Most of Jasper County got only about an inch of snow, but there was plenty of precipitation to freeze on the roads creating hazardous, icy conditions.

All after school and evening activities for the days school is closed have been cancelled. Therefore, the scheduled trivia night on January 30, has been postponed.

A winter storm warning was issued for much of the state from 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, until 1 p.m. on Wednsday, Jan. 29.
