Cleary Finishes as State Runner-up

Piedmont Academy wrestler Nolan Cleary finished as the state-runner up in the 285-pound weight class during the GISA state tournament this past weekend.

In addition, Mills Smith capped his high school wrestling career with a third-place showing at 182. Dylan Efird (160) and Malik Reid (170) finished fourth in their respective weight classes.

Overall, the Mat Cougars were ninth as a team based on the four individual performances.

Our wrestlers put forth a lot of effort this year and it showed with their results,” coach Alvin Hawkes said.
