Turtle Cove Home Is Burglarized

Last Friday, February 28, a residence on Flamingo Drive in Turtle Cove was burglarized, according to information received from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).

The items reported stolen included currency, a laptop computer and a Georgia Sons of Confederate Veterans tag.

Two other criminal incidents reported by the JCSO during the past week include:

•On February 28 a resident on North Cook Road reported the theft of an unknown quantity of gasoline from a vehicle.

•On February 27 a resident on Barnes Mountain Road reported the theft of 1991 Yamaha red and white dirt bike.

Anyone with information concerning the above, or any other criminal activity, are encouraged to call the JCSO anonymous tips line at 706-468-JCSO.

Also, during the period of February 25 to March 4 the JCSO reported the following arrests:

•Robert Lee Maddox, 49, Monticello—child support (two counts).

•Cameron Leonard Franklin, 28, Monticello—driving while license suspended or revoked, failure to maintain lane, obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers and battery.

•Christopher Everette Head, 36, Monticello—possession of marijuana less than one ounce.

•Joshua Daniel Roquemore, 34, Griffin—probation violation.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 172 calls for service including 61 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 15 subject needs officer, 13 attempt to serve warrant, nine assist motorist, seven accident, six alarm, five checking location, four each dog disturbance, courtesy ride, theft by taking, pick up prisoner/subject and music/noise complaint.

Also, three each trouble unknown and vandalism of property, two each burglary, intoxicated pedestrian, mechanical breakdown, welfare check, four wheeler and discharge firearms, one each domestic, livestock on road, need assistance, chest pain, laceration, child abuse/molestation, child custody case, road rage, threatening/harassing calls, property found, abandoned vehicle, vgcsa, sick, 911 hang up and identity fraud/theft.

Also during this period the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:

•Evone Benjamin, 50, Monticello—aggravated assault, battery, cruelty to children in the third degree and two counts of obstruction of an officer.

•Miranda Champagne Nelson, 27, Monticello—hold for warrant in Newton County.

•Jaylin Tyree Cortez Thurman, 20, Monticello—entering auto, participation in criminal gang activity and theft by taking.

•Isiah Trajuan Johnson, 17, Monticello—entering auto, participation in criminal gang activity and theft by taking.

•Robert Lemont Benton, 39, Monticello—driving while license suspended or revoked.

•Michael Drake Smith, 20, Hillsboro—robbery.

During this time period officers with the MPD also responded to 66 calls for service including 24 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, nine escort or convoy, seven subject needs officer, six attempt to serve warrant, three alarm, two each intoxicated pedestrian and accident, one each fight, mechanical break down, fire/vehicle, hemorrhage, heart attack, child abuse/molestation, missing person, four wheeler, subject needs officer, private property, threatening/harassing calls, argument, identity fraud/theft and drinking in public.
