Martha Lois Thomas Walker
Martha Lois Thomas Walker was born on November 8, 1948 in Macon, Ga. to the late loving and devoted parents Joseph Thomas and Catherine Thomas Williams.
She was nicknamed “Pretty Girl.” She was educated in the Jasper County Public School System. She was married to Charles Walker of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Martha Lois joined St. John CME Church at an early age where she remained dedicated and dependable until God called her home. She could always be seen serving as an usher at the front door of the church with a beautiful smile. She was also a member of the Pastoral Aid Ministry and a Sunday School teacher. She was employed by Jasper County Board of Education, Bibb Manufacturing and Conyers Nursing Home.
Martha Lois Thomas Walker passed from this world to eternal rest on Wednesday, March 12, 2014.
A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Walker is planned for Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 1 p.m. at St. John CME Church, 240 Key Street, Monticello. The Rev. Dr. Lavonia K. McIntyre, pastor, will deliver the eulogy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Roy Thomas and Joe Thomas and step-father Robert Lee Williams.
Martha Lois enjoyed reading her bible, walking, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. She always tried to share wisdom to her siblings and everyone that she met. Her greatest enjoyment was being a mother to her dear daughter Kristie. Martha Lois always wanted to see everyone happy and living life to the fullest.
She leaves to cherish her memories her lovely daughter Kristie Thurman of Monticello, GA (God Please take care of my child), daughter of Tony L. Thurman; five sisters: Shirley Tyus (Waymond), Kathner ‘Kathy’ Thomas (Jimmy), Ethel Thomas (Scott), Elizabeth Thomas (Willie) all of Monticello, Mary (David) Thomas Thurman of Milledgeville; two brothers, Fred Thomas and Jeff Thomas (Teresa) of Covington.
Also, four aunts: Georgia R. Sands (Joe) of Monticello, Mary K. Depass of Charlotte, N.C., Betty J. Greffenreid of Dallas. TX, and Nancy Johnson of Mississippi; four uncles: Willie Lee Oliver of Madison, George Oliver, Jr. of Charlotte, N.C., Harrison Thomas of Atlanta, and William Thomas of Monticello; stepsisters, JoAnn Barnes (Tommy), Patricia Mullins, Tomacia Williams, Jacqueline Willis; stepbrothers: Jimmy Williams (Sylvia), and Larry Williams of Milledgeville; devoted cousins: Jeanette Gotel Abner (Ryan), Nellie Gotel Eubanks (Charlie) of Covington, Barbara Whidby and Vera Greene (Frank) of Monticello; a special niece: Keshia Goolsby (Tyson) of Fort Hood, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
