Henry Hilton Brooks, Jr.

Henry Hilton Brooks, Jr., age 83, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014, at Newton Medical Center in Covington.

Mr. Brooks was born on September 14, 1931, in De Soto, Ga. to the late Henry Hilton Brooks, Sr. and Theresa Albert Gardner Brooks. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He attended Long Island University in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Before retirement, Hilton was an insurance consultant for various insurance companies over a 38-year period. In 1983, he moved to Monticello and worked as a dispatcher for 15 years for the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.

His wife, Delores Ann Binion Brooks, and brother, Gardner Joseph Brooks preceded him in death.

He is survived by his sons, John Brooks of Everett, Washington, and James Brooks of Monticello; and grandchildren, Jamie Lee Brooks, Caitlin Brooks, Marcus Brooks, and Marliese Brooks.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the New Bethlehem Baptist Church in Monticello. Interment will be held in the church cemetery. Rev. Charlie Edwards will officiate.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the New Bethlehem Baptist Church, P. O. Box 271, Monticello, Ga. 31064.
