B-Team Cougars Lose, Win

The Piedmont Academy B-team baseball squad fell in a close 1-0 contest to Windsor Academy last week at home while also recording a 9-1 victory.

During the win, Piedmont scored three runs in the bottom of the first and added runs in the second and third innings before closing the door with four additional runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Mack Brady started the game and worked two winnings with three strikeouts. Noah Quick worked the next two innings with four strikeouts before Alan Powell finished things off with two strikeouts in an inning of work.

Brady was 1-for-3 at the plate with a run and RBI while Wyatt Galloway finished 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Quick was 1-for-2 with a run and RBI while Zack Wilson was 1-for-3 with a homer and four RBI.

Alan Powell was 1-for-1 while Hunter Whiting was 1-for-2 with two runs.

In the 1-0 loss, Windsor scored the game’s lone run in the top of the third. Tyler Mills was 1-for-1 at the plate while Powell was 1-for-2. Whiting also contributed offensively going 1-for-1.

Galloway pitched the first three innings for the Cougars with three strikeouts. The one run he allowed was not earned.

Brady worked the final two innings and had three strikeouts.

Windsor managed just one hit against Galloway and Brady.
