JCHS Graduation Is Friday at Rose Bowl Field
Jasper County High School will hold its 2014 Commencement Exercises this Friday, May 16, at 7 p.m., at Rose Bowl field in Monticello.
A special section inside today’s newspaper salutes not only the Jasper County High School graduates but also the Piedmont Academy graduates.
Piedmont graduates on Saturday, May 24, at 10 a.m. at the school gymnasium. Katie Odegaard is valedictorian, and salutatorian has not yet been determined. The students have finals this week that will affect who qualifies for salutatorian.
Monticello’s graduation is scheduled for Rose Bowl field, but will be moved to the high school auditorium if there is inclement weather. More than 100 students are slated to receive their diplomas.

Thomas Arthur Boose, II, son of Tom and Abbe Boose, will give the valedictory address. Mr. Boose has the highest average awards in various classes and overall GPA of 98. He is a member of the prom committee.
He plans to attend Georgia Military College in Milledgeville to pursue a major in marketing and sales. He hopes to complete an internship for Tyco International.
Aaron Michael Newton, son of Mike and Tonya Newton, is salutatorian. He is a member of Beta Club, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), National Technical Honor Society (NTHS), percussion ensemble and the baseball and basketball teams.
He was the recipient of the Georgia Certificate of Merit and the highest average award for AP British Lit, and he was voted “Most Likely to Succeed.” He plans to attend Kennesaw State University.
