Thomas Eugene Parrott

Thomas Eugene Parrott, 61, beloved husband of Rachel Carter Parrott, left this world to be with his heavenly Father on Monday May 12, 2014.

Born on May 18, 1952, in Macon, and raised in Monticello, Thom loved Jesus Christ and believed that He died so that his sins would be forgiven.

He graduated from Monticello High School before serving proudly in the United States Marine Corps. He then attended the University of Georgia before beginning a life-long career in retail pharmacy.

Thom’s passion for life, love of family, and loyalty astonished all who knew him; he frequently stated that he was “the most blessed man in the world.” He was a fierce fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and enjoyed pulling for the ‘Dawgs in Sanford Stadium at any opportunity he could get. Thom cared deeply about his work as a Region Manager at CVS Pharmacy, often stating that he loved the people that he worked with, especially “the Forty.”

He very much enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, including: camping in his Airstream, fishing, riding bikes, and going out to dinner with his loved ones.

Thom was preceded in passing by his father, Donald Walter Parrott, his mother, Jane Holland Parrott, his brother, Frank Holland Parrott, and best friend, Mark Mitchell.

In addition to his wife, Rachel, he is survived by his son, Mark Mitchell Parrott, and his son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin Barrow Parrott and Amber Hobson Parrott, along with two granddaughters, Jane Utah Parrott and Quinn Barrow Parrott. He is also survived by siblings: Donald W. Parrott Jr. and wife Gail, John Lee Parrott and wife Susan, Jan Parrott Jones and husband Keith, and Jill Parrott Ansley and husband Vic.

In addition, he was an awesome, dedicated uncle and is survived by nieces and nephews: David, Julie, Brent, Joy, Janie, Becky, Laura, Sally, Thom, Charlie, Jill, Ann, Hamilton, Jan, and Carter; also in-laws Earl and Kay Carter, and sister-in-law Andrea and husband Brian Jared.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 16 at 2 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel, 6685 Shallowford Rd, Winston-Salem, N.C., with Rev. Joel K. Boyles officiating.

The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home on Thursday, May 15 from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project and any other relief organizations benefiting our service people.
