Vera Bell Ussery Carey

Vera Bell Ussery Carey, 85, of Hickory, N.C. passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014 at her residence.

She was born January 13, 1929 in Jones County, Ga. to the late Primus Ussery and Kenney Tremble Ussery. She was a member of Pinegrove Primitive Baptist Church where she was Mother of the Church, and retired from Comfort Chair Furniture Company.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dan Carey Sr., two sons, Eddie Carey and Alex Carey, and one daughter Martha Carey; five brothers and three sisters.

She leave to cherish loving memories three sons, Benjamin (Naomi) Carey of Hillsboro, Dan (Patricia) Carey Jr. and Leon Carey of Shady Dale; five daughters, Katie (Jerimiah) Card of the home, Linda (Tim) Shuford and Charlotte Carey of Hickory, Mary Carey Ammons of Lexington, Ky. and Stacey (Clarence) Crutchfield of Hillsboro, 29 grandchildren, 35 great- grandchildren; nine great- great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Pinegrove Primitive Baptist Church, 833 Warlick Road, Lawndale, N.C., with the Elder Charlie Ussery officiating. Burial will be held at Carey Memorial Cemetery in Shady Dale.
