Two Arrested after Standoff

Jessie Lee Hardeman, 35, of Mansfield was charged with two counts possession of methamphetamine, theft by receiving stolen property, two counts of possession of marijuana less than one ounce, obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers and parole violation last Thursday, May 22 by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).

The JCSO also reported the arrest of Kathleen Farrell Matthews, 31, also of Mansfield at the same time and charged her with possession of methamphetamine hindering apprehension or punishment of a criminal, obstruction of an officer and possession of marijuana less than one ounce.

The arrests came after an attempt to serve an arrest warrant at a residence on County Line Road. The suspect, Mr. Hardeman refused to come out of the house and the homeowner, Ms. Matthews, would not allow the deputies to enter.

The JCSO Tactical Squad was called in and failed to get the pair to exit the house with gas, but then entered the house and found Mr. Hardeman in the attic. A search of the residence revealed three long guns, marijuana, methamphetamine and ammunition.

During the period of May 20-27 the JCSO reported the following additional arrests:

•Dexter Enoch Jackson, 49, Monticello—deposit account fraud.

•Darrell Lewis Campbell, 40, Mansfield—registration violation, no insurance and driving while license suspended or revoked.

•Gregory Jacob Martin, 20, Covington—possession of marijuana less than one ounce.

•Kegan Tate Johnston, 21, Bethlehem—hold for warrant in Barrow County.

•Amanda Jean Buice, 18, Flovilla—hold for warrant in Spalding County.

•Johnny Deline Miller, 47, Covington—failure to maintain lane and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

•Kevin Ray Greenway, 30, Porterdale—criminal trespass.

•Jarrod Douglas Williams, 26, Forsyth—hold for warrant in Bibb

County.

•Clarence Price, III, 24, Social Circle—carrying a concealed weapon and obstruction of an officer.

•Taylor Morgan Garrett, 18, Monticello—too fast for conditions and fleeing and attempting to elude an officer.

•Johnny Watson McCullough, 46, Covington—probation violation.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 282 calls for service including 120 checking location, 62 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 10 subject needs officer, nine argument, eight assist motorist, six road hazard, five threatening/harassing calls, four each accident and welfare check.

Also, three each domestic, livestock on road, theft by taking, discharge firearms, trouble unknown and vandalism of property, two each alarm, speeding auto, courtesy ride, escort or convoy, mechanical break down, pick up prisoner/subject, juvenile complaint, music/noise complaint, trespassing, attempt to serve warrant and 911 hang up, one each fight, dog disturbance, road blocked, fire, special detail missing person, child custody case, dead on arrival, private property, persons refuse to leave, sex offender check, license check/road block, seizure and test call.

During the same period as mentioned above the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:

•Leonard Lee Davis, 30, Monticello—Jasper County Probate Court failure to appear bench warrant.

•Marvis Armel Wyman, 33, Monticello—criminal trespass and public drunkenness.

Also during this period, officers with the MPD responded to 94 calls for service including 28 escort or convoy, 23 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, seven checking location, five alarm, four subject needs officer, three each domestic, music/noise complaint and argument, two each courtesy ride, theft by taking, crowd disbursement and road hazard, one each assist motorist, livestock on road, mechanical break down, fire alarm, sire/structure, chest pain, private property, trouble unknown, abandoned vehicle and transport.
