13-Year-Old Is Killed in Accident
Thirteen-year-old Garrett Barnett died from injuries sustained in an accident last Thursday in Mansfield.
Young Mr. Barnett was driving a Kawasaki 100 and collided with a 1998 Chevrolet GMC 400 driven by Daniel Holbrook of Mansfield.
The accident was investigated by the Georgia State Patrol, and the report was not ready as of Tuesday afternoon. Also responding were several Jasper County emergency officials, including deputies, medics and more.
Mr. Barnett was born June 9, 2000 in Conyers, and grew up in the Newborn and Mansfield area. He attended Mansfield Elementary School, and was currently a student at Jasper County Middle School. He loved to be outside, playing, hunting, fishing and riding.
Garrett is survived by his parents Kevin Barnett and Sherry Barnett both of Mansfield; brother, Austin Barnett of Mansfield, his grandparents, Bobby and Yvonne Barnett of Monroe and Wayne and Lavonia Blackmon of Mansfield.
He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Tim and Angie Barnett of Watkinsville, Carrie Lester of Colorado and Ron and Eunice Blackmon of Monticello along with numerous other family and close friends.
Funeral services for Garrett were held Monday, June 9, 2014 at the chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Dr. Randy Reese officiating. Interment followed at Sewell United Methodist Church Cemetery.
