Crime Reports Are Light

During the past week the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) only reported two criminal incidents. They are as follows:

•On June 20 a citizen reported the theft of 12 packs of Diet Coke from the Shady Dale Rodeo grounds.

•On June 21 the Mt. Carmel Church on Campbell Cross Roads in East Jasper County reported the theft of a wooden piano/organ.

Anyone with information concerning the above, or any other criminal activity are encouraged to call the anonymous tips line at at the JCSO (706-468-JCSO).

During the period of June 23 through July 1 the JCSO reported the following arrests:

•Daniel Lauren Smith, 30, Williamson–probation violation.

•Jason Matthew Ratzel, 36, Monticello–aggravated assault.

•Joshua Jamal Hendricks, 19, Monticello–disorderly conduct.

•Edmund Anthony Zygler, 54, Mansfield–possession of open container and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

•Hans Tyrell Calkins, 42, Monticello–habitual violator.

•Joshua Ryan Mattison, 33, Monticello–driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and open container.

•Billy Jo Wages, 38, Hillsboro–contempt of court.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 341 calls for service including 154 checking location, 65 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 21 subject needs officer, 12 accident, 10 alarm, eight mechanical break down, five each pick up prisoner and attempt to serve warrant, four juvenile complaint, three each assist motorist, courtesy ride, deliver emergency message, threatening/harassing calls, vandalism of property, sick and sex offender check, two each dog disturbance, burglary, escort or convoy, be on the look out, assault, child custody case, music/noise complaint, road hazard, argument, abandoned vehicle and license check/road block, one each fight, prowler report, speeding auto, road blocked, livestock on road, hit and run, four wheeler, discharge firearms, property found, trespassing, illegal dumping/littering, forgery and 911 hang up.

During this same period the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the arrest of Thomas Wesley Barkley, 35, of a Monticello address and charged him with non child support.

Also during this period officers with the MPD responded to 36 calls for service including six escort or convoy, five stopping suspicious person/vehicle, three each alarm, accident and subject needs officer, two each music/noise complaint and persons refuse to leave, one each dog disturbance domestic, assist motorist, speeding auto, mechanical break down, shortness of breath, assault, disorderly, checking location, attempt to serve warrant, stalking and identity fraud/theft.

In addition, during this period the Georgia State Patrol reported the arrest of Latonya Hallman, 43, of a Shady Dale address and charged her with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to yield.
