Marvin D. Jordan

Funeral services for Marvin David Jordan, 54, were held Saturday, August 2 at Midway C.M.E. Church in Shady Dale with burial in Midway Church Cemetery. Pastor Benny Dearro officiated.

He died July 26, 2014.

Mr. Jordan was born on January 26, 1960 as the youngest son of the late Sidney and Serlena Jordan.

He possessed a quiet and gentle spirit as he loved fishing and tinkering with devices.

A 1978 graduate of Monticello High School, he joined the military and served his country for two years prior to being honorably discharged and returning home.

He was also employed by Hy-Line International in Mansfield.

Mr. Jordan embraced God at an early age and continued his belief. His favorite saying whenever he left one’s presence was, “If God’s will, I will see you all again.”

Survivors include two brothers, Joe Ward, Sr. and James Bonard Jordan, both of Shady Dale; four sisters, Anne, Joyce, and Audrey, all of Shady Dale, and Elease of Eatonton; aunt, Mabel Dearro of Shady Dale; special nephews, Joe Ward, Jr. and Calvin Ward of Covington; special cousins, Charles Russell and Evan Dearro; best friend, Samuel Williams; fishing partner, Bennie Dearro; nephews, Jacques Myrick of Eatonton, Lee Martin of Farrar, and Durell Farley of Shady Dale; nieces, Jeri Trowick of Eatonton, Ernestine, Rubytine, and Beatrice Ward of Shady Dale; and a number of great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Smith & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
