Grand Jury Returns Indictments

A grand jury convened last week during Jasper Superior Court bringing criminal indictments against 21 defendants.

Indictments that were true billed, meaning a majority of the jurors found that the evidence presented to them was adequate to justify seeking an indictment, included:

•Damian Cloud for one count of statutory rape.

•John Daniel Wood for failure to register as a sex offender.

•Lavarous Jai Golson for five counts, including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana more than an ounce, possession of firearm during commission of a felony, obstruction of an officer, and possession of drug related objects.

•Jason Ratzel for two counts including aggravated assault and terroristic threats.

•Jessie Lee Hardeman for nine counts including two counts possession of methamphetamine, two counts possession of marijuana less than an ounce, theft by receiving stolen property, obstruction of an officer, and three counts for possession of firearm by convicted felon.

•Andre Etienne Prevost for three counts, including possession of a schedule I controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of a schedule II controlled substance with intent to distribute, and possession of drug related objects.

•Jesse Lee Jones, aka, Jesse Lee Messer, for child molestation.

•Jason Abercrombie for three counts of theft by receiving stolen property.

•Tillson Jermaine Minor for six counts including three counts of possession of a schedule II controlled substance, one count of possession of a schedule III controlled substance, and one count of a possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, all with the intent to distribute.• Larry Demond Dumas for one count of sale of cocaine.

•Timothy Joel McDaniel and Tracy Eugene Plunkett for one count of sale of methamphetamine.

•Teresa Harley for one count of sale of methamphetamine.

•Dewayne Lashaun Carter for sale of cocaine.

•Marquavius Antoine Smith for two counts of sale of marijuana.

•Dwight Anthony Jones and William Rayford Jones for two counts

including sale and possession of methamphetamine.

•Patrick Wesley Odom for sale of marijuana.

•Quincy Lamar Horton for two counts of sale of marijuana.

•Rodney Vernard Rooks for sale of marijuana.

•Faaruwq Muhammad for sale of marijuana.

•David Hardwick for two counts of terroristic threats, two counts of obstruction of an officer, and public drunkenness.

•Lucious Marcus Odom for five counts including discharge of gun near highway or street, carrying a weapon without a license, criminal trespass, reckless conduct, and possession of a firearm by convicted felon.

•Malcom Smith for possession of marijuana and possession of drug related objects.

•John W. Kelly for five counts including three counts of aggravated assault, aggravated battery and affray.

No bill charges, a grand jury’s notation that insufficient evidence exists for an indictment on a criminal charge included the following:

•Raymond Goolsby for burglary in the second degree.

•Damian Cloud for three counts including aggravated child molestation, and two counts of child molestation.

•John W. Kelly for a of discharge of firearm under the influence.

•Malcom Smith for improper display of license plates and failure to wear seat belt.
