Burglaries Are Reported

Several burglaries were reported over the last week in Jasper County, and one person was arrested on burglary charges and another on charges of theft by receiving stolen property, leading to the assumption that burglars are getting caught at least sometimes.

On Saturday, officers responded to the report of a burglary at a location on Hwy. 11 south. There were four incidents reported as theft by taking. One of those instances took place at a construction site on Hwy. 212 where copper wire was taken.

Another incident was the theft of a television from a home on Fred Smith Street, and another theft was reported on Henderson Mill Road. A theft was also reported on Pine Valley Road, off Hwy. 11 south. There was also a report of criminal damage to property at the clubhouse at Turtle Cove.

Persons booked into the Jasper County Detention Center in the last week include:

•Michael Eugene Couch, 39, Covington—failure to stop at stop sign, driving while license suspended or revoked, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

•David Kent Sorrells, 19, Monroe—theft by receiving stolen property (3 counts) and criminal trespass.

•Rhonda Cherie Randall, 47, Monticello—pedestrian under the influence or alcohol or drugs.

•Demarcus Arkell Sands, 19, Monticello—license violation.

•Johnny Hayward Tate, 52, Virginia Beach, Va.—possession of marijuana less than an ounce.

•Milton James Jeffery, 24, Monticello—probation violation.

•Marvis Armel Wyman, 33, Monticello—aggravated assault, failure to maintain lane, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving while license suspended or revoked, failure to report accident with injury/death/or damage, probation violation and child support.

•Theresa Alene Greer, 36, Locust Grove—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain lane.

•Kiefer Wayne Wood, 21, Monticello—probation violation.

•Jeremy Lee Deboer, 17, Mansfield—furnishing to/purchase or possession of alcohol by persons underage (2 counts), public indecency, littering and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

•Nicholas Keith Williamson, 25, Monticello—hold for warrant in Morgan Co.

•Nathan Joseph Smith, 35, Covington—burglary, 1st degree.

During the past week, officers with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) also responded to 365 calls for service, including 106 suspicious person or vehicle; 99 checking location; 16 alarms; 13 subject needs officer; nine mechanical breakdown, and eight escort or convoy, trouble unknown, and accidents; seven attempt to serve warrant; six VIN vertification and vandalism reports; five theft by taking, and numerous other calls.
