MS Cougars Lose Close One

Piedmont Academy’s Middle School softball team fell for the first time this season in a 7-6 road loss to Trinity Christian School in Dublin last Thursday.

The Middle School Lady Cougars took an early lead when Madison Johnson doubled home Cassidy Cook in the first inning.

Despite some miscues, the team continued to battle, its coach said.

“Our girls continued to work hard to get on base and move runners into scoring position,” said coach Kirstie Lewis.

Piedmont would move back in front 6-3 but was unable to add any insurance runs.

Madison Morton pitched the entire game and did a “great job,” Lewis said.

“This was our first loss, but I think the girls learned a lot about showing up ready to play against quality competition, Lewis said.

“We have to be ready from the beginning and make sure we finish games strong.”

Piedmont will return to action Saturday, Sept. 6, at Loganville Christian Academy at 11 a.m. The team will then travel to John Milledge Academy Monday for a 4 p.m. doubleheader.
