Six People Get 13 Right

CLINT CURRIE PRESENTS PRIZE TO WINNER TYLER SEAWRIGHT

After a tough contest week last week, the pickings got a little easier this week, with six people correctly guessing the winners of 13 games listed in The Monticello News football contest.

Tyler Seawright was the closest on the tie-breaker though, guessing 56 points would be scored in Piedmont’s 56-42 loss to John Milledge. Everyone else guessed less total points would be scored in the game.

For his efforts, Mr. Seawright picked up a $25 prize from Clint Currie at NAPA/Monticello Auto Parts.

Mr. Seawright is a junior at Jasper County High School, and his whole family plays the contest. It’s his second year playing, and he’s the first one from his family to win. He is a member of the football Hurricanes, but has not been able to play so far this season because of an injury.

Other players getting 13 right included Roger Minter, Leigh Brown, Glen Carter, Jud Kirksey, and Denise Parker.

They, along with 23 persons who got 12 right, will have their names added to the Grand Prize honor roll to be included in a drawing for four premium tickets to the Chick-fil-A/Peach Bowl on New Year’s Eve in Atlanta.

Players are reminded to write legibly, and to assure the entry is correctly judged, it’s best to use the name listed in the contest. It confuses the judges when something different—such as initials or team name—is used. And, only one entry per person is allowed, so if more than one is received, all are disqualified.

Players are free to double-check the judges; if you think there’s been a mistake, please let us know.

This week’s contest again offers a mixture of high school, college and professional games. No particular skill is required, anyone can play, anyone can win. On any given week, there’s bound to be an upset or two. The player who correctly picks the winner of the most games listed, subject to the tie-breaker, will win a $25 prize from M.D. HVAC, sponsor of the week.
