Piedmont Cross Country Excels
Piedmont Academy’s cross country athletes continue to excel at regular season competitions.
During a meet at Trinity Christian School September 20, Alina Jablonksi was ninth for the varsity girls with a time of 23:22. The time was Jablonski’s best since returning from a knee injury.
“She is improving at every meet,” said coach Traci Brady.
The varsity boys were paced by Brice Dodson, who turned in a 25:02, continuing to lower his time.
For the Middle School girls, Mari Jablonski was second in 13:44. Teammate Gracie Black finished the course in 17:26 followed by Mallory Boyd (17:48).
“Gracie and Mallory both improved their times since their last run at Trinity,” their coach said.
Garrett King finished the race in 17:32 for the Middle School boys.
During a varsity race at Monsignor Donovan on Sept. 24, Mari Jablonski, a seventh grader, was allowed to run with the varsity teams. She finished in second place in 23:25.79, the first time she competed in a 3.1-mile race at the varsity level.
“She was very impressive,” Brady said. “We are expecting big things from her in the future. Both Jablonski girls run with so much heart and train extensively. Their hard work is really paying off.”
Sister Alina Jablonski was fifth in 24:32. Dodson turned in a time of 27:00 on the tough course for the varsity boys.
“The course is pretty tough,” Brady said. “There are several big hills. We will run the region meet there on Oct. 18.”
The Piedmont varsity runners are now off from competition until the region meet, leaving them ample time to train. The Middle School runners will be back at Trinity in Dublin on Oct. 8 for their final season meet.
