Three Cougars Make All Star Team
Piedmont Academy’s Cheyenne Galloway, Remington Marsh and Morgan Tillman have been selected to compete in the GISA All-Star softball game which will be this Saturday, Oct. 25, at 2 p.m. at Mercer University in Macon.
All three players helped the Lady Cougars reach the Class AA Final Four this season.
“I’m extremely proud of these seniors,” said coach Daniel Funt.
“They have been leaders in the school, in other facets of their lives and on the field. All three of these players have been in the program since they were sixth graders and have grown into outstanding young ladies.”
Galloway has been on the varsity team for five seasons and was one of the team leaders on the field, her coach said.
“Cheyenne was our catcher and No. 3 batter and led the team in batting average and finished toward the top in several other categories,” Funt said. “She has committed to play at the next level. She has worked extremely hard and I am very excited for her.”
Marsh has also been a leader for the Lady Cougars and overcame some early-season struggles to show drastic improvement as the season progressed, her coach said.
“I’m proud of her for handling that adversity,” Funt said. “She is interested in playing at the next level as well.”
Tillman was one of the vocal leaders for the softball program since her freshman season.
“She has never been scared, even at that age,” Funt said. “Morgan has improved dramatically since she was a freshman and has become a tremendous asset, not just vocally, but with production as well.”
Tillman was the team’s clean-up batter and led the team in homeruns and RBIs. She also wants to compete at the collegiate level.
