Superior Court Has Busy Week
Jasper Superior Court had some heavy court traffic this week with Judge Hugh Wingfield, III presiding over the trial calendar on Monday and Judge E. Trenton Brown, III presiding over Tuesday’s motion day.
Judge Wingfield had just under 90 cases on his docket to review Monday but more than a third of those cases were continued leaving the load a little lighter. Of those cases actually presented to the court, the following sentences were handed down:
John Daniel Wood, guilty of failure to register as sex offender, sentenced to 15 years with the first five served in confinement and the remainder on probation, fined $1,000.
Jerry Wayne East, guilty of burglary, sentenced to 10 years with the first two to be served in confinement and the remainder on probation, fined $300.
Martin Cervantes, guilty of obstruction of an officer and pedestrian under the influence charges, sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation, fined $200.
Melvin Cooper, guilty of driving under of the influence (DUI) and possession of firearm by convicted felon, sentenced to five years to be served on probation, fined $1,000.
Jospeh James Brickman, guilty of possession of marijuana, sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation, fined $500.
Kayla Rachelle Smith, guilty of battery and obstuction of an officer, sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation, fined $500.

Richard Todd Thomas, guilty of possesion of methhamphetamine and defective equipment, sentenced to two years to be served on probation, fined $400.
Teresa Lyon Harley, guilty of sale of methamphetamine, sentenced to five years to be served on probation, fined $1,000.
Marquavius Antoine Smith, guilty of two counts of slae of marijuana, sentenced to five years to be served on probabtion, fined $1,000.
Patrick Wesley Odom, guilty for sale of marijuana, sentenced to five years to be served on probation, fined $1,000.
Quincy Lamar Horton, guilty on two counts of sale of marijuana, sentenced to five years to be served on probation, fined $1,000.
Darrell Lewis Campbell, guilty of driving while license suspended and no proof of insurance, sentenced 12 months to be served on probation, fined $600.
Thomas Robert Anderson, guilty of possession of firearm by convicted felon, sentenced to three years to be served on probation, fined $500.
Clarence Price, III, guilty of carrying weapon without a license, giving false information and obstuction of an officer, sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation, fined $500.
Alissa Reynolds, guilty of disrupting public school, sentenced to 12 months to be sserved on probabtion, fined $200.
Qiyamah Taqiyyah Mckoy, guilty of possesion of marijuana, obstruction of an officer, and violation of limited driving permit, sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation, fined $500.
Hans Tyrell Calkins, guilty of being habitual violator, sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation, fined $500.
Shannon Raquel Robindon, guilty of false report of a crime and simple battery, sentenced to 24 months to be served on probation, fined $500.
Lewis Edward Stevens, III, guilty of possession of marijuana, sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation, fined $300.
Kyle Scott Stiles, guilty of possesion of marijuana, sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation, fined $500.
Johnathan Andre Sims, guilty of disorderly conduct, sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation, fined $200.
Jeremy Arkell Sands, guilty of obstruction of an officer and speeding, senteced to 12 months to be served on probation, fined $660.
Grace Darlene Hicks, guilty of obstruction of an officer, sentenced to 12 months to be served on probabtion, fined $200.
Justin Cooper Singletary, guilty of entering auto and violation of duty upon striking fixed object, sentenced to 24 months to be served on probation, no court fines but must pay restitution of $5,965.
Other action taken was a bond reduction for Andre Prevost, probation revoked for David Nash and Steven Harp.
