Gordon Hugh Brock
Gordon Hugh Brock, age 77, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle.
Hugh Brock was born and raised in Benton, Tenn., to the late John Henry Brock and Nora Kate Burchfiel Brock. He was a graduate of Tennessee Tech University. In 1964, Hugh moved to Monticello where he retired as the District Director of the ASCS. He served in the Army National Guard.
He was an active member of the Monticello First United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. He held numerous positions and served on many committees.
Hugh was a member of the Monticello Jaycee’s, Masonic Lodge #50 F&AM. He was a founding parent of Piedmont Academy and served on the Board of Trustees for a number of years.
Hugh loved to farm, garden, raise beef cattle, and play golf.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Kenny Brock of Monticello; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Janet Brock of McDonough, Jimmy and Laura Brock of Fayetteville, and Steve and Robin Brock of Americus; and grandchildren, Allison Brock, Morgan Brock, Taylor Brock, Cory Brock, and Wes Brock.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Monticello First United Methodist Church. Interment will be held in West View Cemetery. Revs. Stephen Soulen and Larry Pearson will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cory Brock, Fred Caldwell, Hunter Pope, Kenneth Pope, Robbie Pulliam, and Tom Tillman.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 20, 2014, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., at Jordan Funeral Home, 264 Hillsboro St., Monticello, GA, 31064.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Monticello First United Methodist Church, 651 College Street, Monticello, GA 31064; or Piedmont Academy, P. O. Box 231, Monticello, GA 31064.
