Martha Sylvia Gordon Loyd

Martha Sylvia Gordon Loyd, age 77, of Hillsboro, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.

Sylvia Loyd was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. Her parents were the late Henry Thomas Gordon and Martha Dover Gordon.

She was a member of Hillsboro United Methodist Church.

During the 1960s, Sylvia was the bookkeeper for Loyd’s Gulf Service Station. She worked as a cashier for Fred’s Finer Foods; and retired from Red and White Grocery.

Her husband, William “Billy” Idus Loyd, Sr., and daughter-in-law, Cindy Loyd preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, Bill Loyd of Macon; grandson and wife, Will and Tiffany Loyd of Concord; great-grandsons, Forrest Loyd, Lucas Loyd, and Cole Loyd; and uncle, Ben Hill Dover of Jackson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Interment will be held in West View Cemetery. Rev. Clyde Carter will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis Pate, Preston Wynens, Sidney Womack, Charles Turner, Jim Bohannon, and Ronnie Tillman.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at Jordan Funeral Home.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Hillsboro United Methodist Church, c/o Jackie Pate, 1994 Hwy 11, Hillsboro, Georgia 31038.
