Food Bank Benefit Set
The Monticello-Jasper County Chamber of Commerce is promoting a “Stuff the Window” food drive for the Jasper County Food Bank.
According to Joanne Sauls, Treasurer for the Food Bank, “January is one of the worst months for donations, because people are regrouping after the holidays and preparing for the upcoming tax season and are preoccupied with their own lives.”
The Chamber is asking donors to bring food items (non-perishables) to the Chamber office to be placed in the display window for the balance of the month. The goal is to completely fill the entire window space with donated items which will be distributed by the Food Bank to families in need.
There are 12 food items on the ‘most wanted’ list. They are: peanut butter, cereal, tuna, beans, rice, mac n cheese (boxed), chili, canned stews, canned soups, canned luncheon meats, full meals (boxed or canned) and pop top food items.
The “Stuff the Window” campaign is collaboration between the Jasper County Food Bank and the Chamber of Commerce.
Let’s “Stuff the Window” and provide a much needed blessing for deserving families in our community, says Pam Mayer, president of the Monticello-Jasper County Chamber of Commerce.
