Lena Laverne White Sprayberry
Lena Laverne White Sprayberry, age 82, of Monticello, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, after an accident.
Laverne Sprayberry was born in Lithonia, Ga., to the late William Joshua White and Effie Mae Sills White. She lived in Rockdale County for a number of years before moving to Monticello in 1969. She was a member of Smithboro Baptist Church and was the church pianist for a number of years. She loved taking care of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ray Sprayberry; and sisters, Irene Cleland and Margie Lowe. Sister, Gaynell Plunkett, died a few hours after Laverne on February 14.
She is survived by her children and spouses, Don and Lynda Sprayberry, Bonnie and Barry Wyatt, and Julie Pope, all of Monticello; grandchildren, Christy Blake, Robb Leggett, Leigh Leggett, John Sprayberry, Justin Moore, Amanda Wages, Allie Moore, Ryan Sutton, Ryan Wyatt, Cammie Wyatt, Olivia Thomason, and Hunter Pope.
Also, great-grandchildren, Ashton Crocker, Kaitlin Brooks, Lucas Sprayberry, Isabelle Sprayberry, Zeke Bell, Silas Bell, Brittney Scheller, Ashley Gladue, Ayden Moore, Ava Moore, Michael Harden, Makayla Wages, Macey Wages, Mattie Wages, Mason Sutton, Dakota Sutton, Preston Witcher, Paige Coleman, Tristen Coleman, Cooper Klepsig, Adyson Klepsig, Parker Wyatt, Emma Wyatt, Sadie Wyatt, Wyatt Love, and Ella Grace Atkinson.
Also, great-great-grandchildren, Sara Grace Crocker, Joshua Crocker, Sadie Crocker, and Elijah Black; and sister and sisters-in-law, Clarice Richardson of Lithonia, Pat Edwards of Monticello, and Barbara Sprayberry of Lithonia.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Smithboro Baptist Church. Interment will be held in West View Cemetery. Revs. John McDuffie, David Artessa, and Joe Ezzard will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Moore, John Sprayberry, Hunter Pope, Robb Leggett, Ryan Sutton, Brad Klepsig, Than Crocker, and Ryan Wyatt.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, at Jordan Funeral Home; and from 1 until 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at Smithboro Baptist Church.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Smithboro Baptist Church, 314 Smithboro Road, Monticello, GA 31064.
