Hurricane Baseball Begins

The 2015 varsity Hurricane baseball squad will officially begin its season today, Feb. 19 with an away contest at Georgia Military College’s (GMC) prepatory school in Milledgeville.

The squad has a 14-person roster including Braden Lynch, Matthew Lawson, Josh Disharoon, Michael Wyatt, Walt McMichael, Tony Shumate, Tyler Mote, Brelan Crowe, Garrett Scroggs, Chad Cain, Cain Gonzalez, Stephen Arena, Tyler Seawright, and Quinton Standifer, who is currently playing with the Cane basketball squad in state action.

The team is led by veteran baseball coach Chris Jenkins.

Following today’s opener, the team will visit Jackson Tuesday, Feb. 24 and Social Circle next Thursday, Feb. 26.

The Canes won’t host their home opener until March 5 versus GMC.

The junior varsity squad will start its season Tuesday, March 3 with a home game versus the Jones County Greyhounds.

The young squad, coached by Matt Riden, includes Payton Rogers, Caleb Cobb, Hunter Duke, Dylan Jackson, Bailey Cook, Kyle Smith, Colton Clay, Max Dotson, Jacob Parrish, Drew Schilling, Bill Elliot, Jesse Burton, Robert Womack, and Jeff Cain.
