Ms. Willie Pearl Horton Rogers

Funeral services for Mrs. Willie Pearl Horton Rogers were held Saturday, Feb. 21, at New Enon Baptist Church in Madison. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Rogers was born on October 26, 1927 to the late Fannie Bell Horton and Henry Harvey in Madison. She was the second of their 10 children. She died February 15, 2015.

She received her education in the Morgan County school system. At the age of 15, she joined New Enon Baptist Church and became an active and respected member. Later, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late George Rogers.

Willie Pearl was known as “Aunt Pearl” and “Grey Fox.” She loved “dressing up,” planting flowers, quilting, and being a mother to her nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Rogers departed this life at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband. Also, sisters, Fannie and Corine; brothers, Aaron, Maxie (Anna), James (Doris) and Horace (Viola).

Three sisters are left to cherish, celebrate and honor her life, Mamie Bell Williams of Newborn; Hattie Butts of Milledgeville, and Gracie Mae Scott of Conyers, also a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
