Students Excel in Talent, Art Showcase

Starr Batchelor and Ashley Devane, singing, signing and playing guitar placed first at the annual Monticello Kiwanis Club Les Steele Talent Showcase held Friday at Jasper County High School.

Second place in Class A (high school) went to the brass quartet of Will Robinson, Taylor Edwards, Austin Norwood and Clay Evans, and third place went to the solo performance of Starr Batchelor singing and playing guitar.

In Class B, grades 6-8, Drew Schilling took first with his piano solo, followed by Ella Mercer, also on piano, and third place went to Jadelyn Barnett singing.

Class C, kindergarten to grade 5 was tough with a three way tie for third place. First place went to Kate Schilling on the piano. Twins Brooklyn and Brianna Dalton took second with the singing, and third place was shared by Julia Proctor on piano, Addy Mercer, singing and Candler Smith, singing.

Art contest winners included (Class A) Tasha Gerstle, best in show and first place winner in 2D and Rocio Bautista, first in 3D. Emmi Wade and Sam Ballew shared second place in 2D, and Michelle Rosso was second in 3D. Third place went to Antonio Boykine, 2D, and Joanie Anderson, 3D.

Class B art winners were Ella Mercer, first; Julia Aldridge, second, and Tyler Phillips, third. Class C art winners were Avery Barton, first; Addy Mercer, second, and Landen Ward, third.
