Cougar Tracksters Compete at Briarwood

Piedmont Academy’s track athletes competed for the third time this spring, traveling to Briarwood Academy on April 1.

Gatewood, Augusta Prep, Westminster, Briarwood, Brentood, John Hancock, Thomas Jefferson and Nathanael Greene all competed.

Top times and marks for the Lady Cougars included:

•Railey Holloway, shot put, 20-6

•Amelia Dodson, 11-11, long jump and 56.3 in 300-meter hurdles (third place)

•Emily Hammonds, 14-0, long jump; 1.1 in 400-meter dash

•Emily Mills, 13.88, 100-meter dash, first in heat

•Sydney Davis, 14.34, 100-meter dash, first in heat

•Anna Knox, 14.53, 100-meter dash

•Remington Marsh, 15.0, 100-meter dash and 3:01 in 200-meter dash

•Gracie Hunt, 9:36, 1,600-meter run and 3:24 in 800-meter run

•Sara Hammonds, 3:04, 800-meter run

•Knox, Patterson, Davis and Emily Hammonds, .58 in 4×100-meter relay

•Sara Hammonds, Dodson, Mills and Emily Hammonds, 4.44, 4×400-meter relay

The next meet for the Cougar track team will be at the region tournament to be held Wednesday, April 22 at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro beginning at 10 a.m.
