Cougar Football Continues To Prep
With the 2015 season opener now one week away, the Piedmont Academy football team has stepped up its preparation in recent days for the new campaign.
The Cougars held a co-practice with Loganville Christian Academy last Friday at Rock Eagle and then took part in a preseason scrimmage against Westminster-Augusta Tuesday as part of the John Hancock Academy Classic in Sparta.
In the co-practice with LCA, the Cougars had the chance to take part in 7-on-7 drills and to work on improving the offensive and defensive lines.
“We got to measure ourselves in a practice setting against another team and that was beneficial,” coach Wes Tanner said.
The team then took part in the scrimmage on Tuesday, which was more similar to a game. There was no live kicking game other than extra points.
“We still have a few days to iron things out,” Tanner said. “The players are working hard and know we still have some things to work on before we play Gatewood.”
Piedmont will travel to Eatonton on Thursday, Aug. 20, for the 2015 season opener.
