Lucy LaFerne Dove

Lucy LaFerne Dove, 76, of Monticello, Ga passed away on Tuesday Aug. 18, 2015 at her home in Monticello after an extended illness.

A native of Gainesville, LaFerne was born on Nov 23, 1938 to Susie O’Dell.

After spending 20 years with the Brunswick Corporation working at Suburban Lanes “the bowling alley” in Decatur, Ga. as a bookkeeper she worked alongside her husband in the family business before retiring to “the farm” in Monticello.

She was an avid reader, bowler, gardener and a love of traveling around the country alongside her late husband Buddy and their sometimes travel companion “Mama Susie.” If that weren’t enough, her most favorite thing in all the world to do was to spend time with and to take care of her family.

A loving and giving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed by us all and by all who ever knew her.

LaFerne was preceded in death by her mother, Susie O’Dell Corn Bennett; husband, Buddy Dove, and grandson, Dustin Dove.

She is survived by her five children: daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa and Michael Hough of Monroe; sons and daughters-in-law, Rusty and Kim Dove of Hoschton, Rudy and Lisa Dove of Covington; son, Randy Dove of Monticello; daughter, Bianca Dove of Monticello; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law Betty Sue and Don Elbel of Powder Springs, Margaret and Randy Sewell of North Carolina; and many nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives.

The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Friday August 21, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and from 60 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday Aug. 22 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Rev. Danny Sorrells will officiate. Interment to follow at Alta Vista Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to be made in Memory of Dustin Dove to: Camp Sunshine / A Camp for Kids with Cancer: Camp Sunshine, 1850 Clairmont Road, Decatur, Ga.30033-3405, Toll Free 1-866-786-2267, Phone 404-325-7979
