Few Thefts Are Reported

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office this week investigated only a couple of thefts, and arrested a relatively small number of people.

One burglary was reported at a residence on Funderbrug Drive, where cash and jewelry were reportedly taken.

Theft by taking was determined at a deer camp on Holman Road where two trail cams were taken along with the card containing photos, and part of a deer stand was also taken.

Those were the only two reports of theft in the last week.

The following people were booked into the Jasper County Detention Center on the charges listed:

•Patrick Wesley Odom, 22, Monticello—criminal use of an article with altered identification umber, purchase/possession/manufacture/distribution or sale of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and probation violation.

•David Allen Nash, Jr., 27, Monticello—probation violation.

•Brandon Sharad Ross, 27, Newborn—open container of alcohol and possession of marijuana less than an ounce.

•Helen Diane Moore, 63, Monticello—possession of marijuana less than an ounce and possession and use of drug related objects.

•Alexandria Kendrell Smith, 20, Monticello—headlight violation and possession of marijuana less than an ounce.

•Sheila Rosell Dennis, 44, Monticello—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

•Ray Carlton Johnson, 55, McDonough—operating a vessel at night and operating a vessel under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

•Carl Andrew Mahaffey, 47, Monticello—open container, driving while license suspended or revoked and headlight violation.

•Orlando Shanteze Redding, 44, Decatur—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

•Stephon Demarcus Williams, 38, Shady Dale—child support.

•Thomas Edward Johnson, 35, Mansfield—possession of methamphetamine.

Deputies also responded to 466 calls for service, including 116 checking location; 104 stopping suspicious person or vehicle, 45 direct traffic, 37 serve civil papers, 22 subject needs officer, 18 assist motorist, 14 pick-up prisoner/subject, 11 mechanical breakdowns, 10 alarms, eight trouble unknown and numerous other types of calls for service.
