Football Contest Begins
The much-anticipated Monticello News football contest begins today!
Contestants pick the winners of 15 games listed and write them on the entry form or a separate piece of paper. Entries may be turned into The News office, 247 West Washington Street or faxed to 706-468-6576 by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4.
Readers will notice a new design to the football contest, so be sure to match the game number to the appropriate line on the entry form.
There is a drop box on the front porch of the newspaper office for after-and before-hour entries, but absolutely none will be accepted after 5 p.m. Friday.
Entries will be judged on Sunday, and the winner will be contacted on Monday to have his or her photo made collecting the prize from that week’s prize sponsor.
This week’s prize sponsor is Bank of Monticello, so the photo will be made on Tuesday since the bank is closed Monday for the Labor Day holiday.
All contestants who correctly guess the winner of 12 or more games listed, will be eligible for the grand prize—four tickets to the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta. Each time a name is added to the honor roll that’s an additional chance to win the grand prize.
Please support the football contest sponsors who make the popular game possible, and notice there is still one sponsorship available.
