Winner Gets 11 Right in Tough Contest Week

Ole Miss beating Alabama was probably the biggest upset of the week in last week’s Monticello News football contest, but it wasn’t the only hard to predict game, as only one contest player, Cassandra Dearro, correctly guessed the winner of 11 games listed in last week’s paper.
Twenty other people got 10 right, and more than 120 got nine or less right.
For her efforts, Mrs. Dearro picked up a $25 prize from Doug Currie at NAPA Auto Parts.
Mrs. Dearro says she plays the contest weekly, and the last time she won Monticello Drugs was the sponsor about two years ago.
Normally to make honor roll, and have your name entered into the grand prize drawing for four tickets to the Chick-fil-A/Peach Bowl, you must get 12 or more right. But, the winner always gets added to the honor roll. This week, however, that is the only name that will be added.
This week’s contest may be easier…or maybe not. At least one person already on the honor roll picks the winner by team mascot or color, so there is no science to it. On any given day, there’s no telling who will win the football game, which makes the contest fair for the avid football fan or casual guesser.
To enter this weeks’ contest, all you have to do is pick the winner of each of the 15 games listed, and guess the total number of points that will be scored in the tie-breaker game. Then, submit your entry in person or by fax, 706-468-6576 by 5 p.m. tomorrow, Sept. 25.
The winner will pick up a $25 prize Monday from Adam McGinnis at Southern Edge Farm & Home.
