Winner Is One of Two with 14 Right

After several difficult weeks of the football contest, things got a little easier last week, with two players getting as many as 14 right for the tie-breaker to come into play for the winner, and about 30 making honor roll signifying they got 12 or more right.
Kyle Gaston and Diltra Stewart each got 14 right, but Kyle guessed 45 points would be scored in Piedmont’s 47-14 win over Bethlehem Temple. Mrs. Stewart guessed 42 points would be scored.
Mr. Gaston was unable to pick-up his prize in person because he lives in Birmingham, Ala., so his dad, Joel Gaston, picked it up for him. He received the $25 prize and a hat from Rick Ringer at Larry’s 4-Way, sponsor of the week.
Mr. Gaston’s parents call him each Thursday with the contest games and then he either calls them back or e-mails them back his picks. The senior Mr. Gaston then submits them to the newspaper on Friday. There are several out-of-state players of The Monticello News football contest. One youth is in Boston, Mass., and another in Clemson, S.C to list a couple.
This week’s contest again lists 15 games, and the winner will pick up a $25 prize from Stone Workman, candidate for Mayor Pro-Tem of Monticello.
All who get 12 or more right have their name entered into a drawing for four premium tickets to the Chick-fil-A/Peach Bowl in Atlanta on New Year’s Eve. The contest, and complete rules, are on page 12 of today’s paper.
