Cane Footabll Player Wins Football Contest

JORDAN STEWART (L), STONE WORKMAN

Homecoming got even sweeter this week for one Hurricane. Once the Monticello Hurricanes won their game Friday night, Jordan Stewart knew he had one game right on the football contest.

As the weekend wore on, he tallied 12 correct answers in the weekly Monticello News football contest.

For his efforts, Mr. Stewart picked up a $25 prize from Stone Workman, candidate for mayor pro-tem for Monticello, and sponsor of the week for the football contest.

Mr. Stewart was the only player to get as many as 12 games right in the contest, so his is the only name added to the grand prize honor roll this week.

Mr. Workman, prize sponsor, is also a weekly player of the contest.

Each time a name is entered on the honor roll that individual is eligible for the grand prize of four premium tickets to the Chick-fil-A/Peach Bowl in Atlanta on New Year’s Eve. Currently, more than 70 names are on the honor roll, some with more than one entry.

But, anyone can play and anyone can win. You don’t have to be a football prognosticator…sometimes it juts pays to be lucky. However, if you don’t play, you can’t win.

This week’s contest is on page 12 of today’s paper. Full rules are on the page. The contest entrant who has the most correct picks, subject to the tie-breaker will pick up a prize worth $25 from Dairy Queen, sponsor of the week. Remember or write legibly, and submit your entry no later than 5 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 30.
